THE FAROE ISLANDS-DAY 1
Off the coast of Norway is a chain of islands that are rumored to be the home of ancient Vikings. And now I can say, by experience, when breathing in the chilling air and taking one step on the land...it's true. The islands are eerie, dark, historical, full of adventures, folk lore, amazing food and views that will forever be engraved in your memory. Brooke and Granville hired my videographer and I for 2 full days to document the most meaningful time of their lives with their 3 best friends.
After 2 very long flights, all of us met in Copenhagen, Denmark where we drank wine on the streets and danced with locals, watched the fireworks from rooftops and had a 5 star Michelin dinner on the Knippelsbro-Bryggebroen Canal. Of course I had to take photos of everything we ate!
We then all took the same flight over to The Faroe Islands, rented 2 cars, stopped at Múlafossur Waterfall and finally arrived at our Airbnb in a town on the other side of the islands that has a population of 71 people. YES...71 PEOPLE. All of the houses there have grass on the roofs to protect them from rain and keep the heat in. It was pretty cool. That night we played games and prepared ourself for the first official day of Brooke & Granville's elopement!!
5am wake up call. It's overcast. This overcast is different than anything I've ever seen. It's thick and dark blue to where zero sun can break it apart. The couple did their first look on the black painted back deck that has a view of the mountains(perfect). We walk through the town and head to the black sand beach where Brooke and Granville have decided to say their vows. Everyone in town is watching us. Waiving and congratulating the couple. I cried. We all cried. They maid of honor jumped up and down in joy with no care in the world as she couldn't contain her happiness. lol.
Off to the Fossa Waterfall we go. The Fossa Waterfall cascades 140 meters down to the sea in two levels and you can literally feel the power that the waterfall holds. The 7 of us hiked a tiny one track trail and climbed rocks to get there and we wouldn't dare get super close to it because it was already starting to knock us down where we were standing as is. We had our fun, told stories and just embraced it's beauty.
Just as we were about to call it a day, Brooke had an idea. She wasn't going to let this day end normally. We got back to our 71 person town where we were greeted by the cutest dogs that didn't want to do anything other than play fetch. Brooke then said "hold by shoes" and ran into the freezing cold ocean IN HER WEDDING DRESS! I loved every second of it.
The remainder of the night we cooked a family meal, played table tennis(ping-pong) and enjoyed each others company while I sat from afar and just took everything through the fogged window preparing for tomorrow.
